Blurt

Download Blurt

The Blurt beta for Mac. It needs an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or later) with macOS 14 or later.

This link always points at the newest beta.

This beta is not signed by Apple yet. macOS will say it can’t check Blurt for malicious software the first time you open it. That is expected for this beta. The steps below open it once; after that it opens normally. Signed builds are on the way.

Install

  1. Open the downloaded Blurt-latest-arm64.dmg.
  2. Drag Blurt into the Applications folder.
  3. Eject the Blurt disk image.

Open it the first time

macOS 15 Sequoia and later

  1. Open Blurt from Applications. macOS shows a warning; click Done.
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and scroll down to Security.
  3. Next to “Blurt was blocked to protect your Mac”, click Open Anyway, then enter your password.
  4. Click Open Anyway once more in the dialog that follows.

macOS 14 Sonoma

  1. In Applications, Control-click (or right-click) Blurt and choose Open.
  2. Click Open in the dialog.

Blurt then walks you through Microphone, Accessibility and Input Monitoring. See Support if dictation does not appear.

Updates

Blurt checks for a new beta on its own and when you choose Check for updates in Settings. Because this beta is not signed, macOS does not let it replace itself. When a new beta is out, Blurt shows Download instead. Download the new disk image, drag Blurt into Applications again and choose Replace.

After replacing an unsigned build, macOS may ask for Microphone, Accessibility and Input Monitoring again. If a switch is already on but Blurt cannot use it, turn it off and on, or remove Blurt from that list with the − button and add it again.
